The Collierville High School Men's and Women's basketball teams continued early momentum to open the 2023-24 season with a pair of wins over the Melrose Golden Wildcats on Saturday in the Collierville Classic at the school's My Town Movers Fieldhouse.

The Lady Dragons opened the event by controlling the game against the visitors and stifled Melrose with a strategic rotation. Senior Carlyn Burdette and junior Hilary Shikuku lead the offensive efforts with 11 points each. Twelve Dragons played significant minutes to wear down the Golden Wildcats 57-31 The Collierville Lady Dragons (2-0) will face Fort Worth, Texas' North Crowley High School (3-1) on Monday in the Bluff City Classic.

Senior Elijah Lussier was a force to be reckon with as the Dragons men downed Melrose 69-48. The 6'9" left-handed forward with a smooth touch netted 15 points. Junior point guard Dallas Berkely continued his strong start by contributing 11 points. Collierville (3-0) will square off against Charlotte, North Carolina's Olympic High School (1-0) in Monday's Bluff City Classic.
