Sometimes you're on, sometimes you're off.

It happens to the best of them, but Friday night was an obvious off night for the Collierville High School Dragons football team. In a game that determined the no. 2 seed in Region 8, the Houston Mustangs controlled the game en route to a 42-28 victory.

With the win, Houston will host Region 7 no. 3 Dickson Co. and Collierville, the 4 seed in Region 8, will travel to Clarksville in the opening round of the TSSAA state playoffs.

Ironically, the winners of those two games will face off in the second round and setting up a potential Collierville and Houston rematch.

Houston struck twice in the first quarter on a Damon Sisa 5-yard touchdown carry and a Chandler Day pass to Derrick Miller Jr. to take a 14-0 early lead.

The Mustangs would again score at the start of the second quarter on another Sisa rushing touchdown from 30 yards out.

Logan Davis found the end zone for the good guys to reduce the margin to 21-7 with an 8-yard pounding effort score.

Unfortunately, Day and Miller would connect before the half and the score would be 28-7 at halftime.

Collierville emerged in the second half on back-to-back scores from Glover to Joakim Dodson and Glover to Eli Sisson.

Houston would answer with a pair of touchdowns of their own.

The score would end 42-28 after Glover scampered for a touchdown just before the end of regulation.

Survive and advance is the consistent motto and that certainly is the case for this dangerous Dragons Football team. Expect the best week of practice from this crew and a vision to knock off the undefeated Clarksville Wildcats in Round 1 of the playoffs.

It's on.
