Returning to the pool after a two-year hiatus and a change from a spring to a fall season sport, the Collierville High School Water Polo team fell to Briarcrest Christian 14-13 in a back-and-forth battle Saturday afternoon at the St. George's Aquatic Center to open the 2023 season.

The Dragons would rebound in the second contest of the day and defeat the host school, St. George's, 10-4.

Collierville (1-1) did not have a full roster Saturday with key pieces to this year's squad inactive, including senior standout goalie "Moose" Ayanru. Junior Carlos Alvarez led the Dragons' defensive efforts as the substitute in goal.
