Collierville didn't waste any time in getting the fireworks started on its 2023 football season.

It took all of 10 seconds.

Wide receiver Martez Carter caught a short pass from Missouri commit Aidan Glover and darted 71 yards for a touchdown on the very first play from scrimmage. Glover would connect with Joakim Dodson for a 38-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Then, the signal caller took it to the ground himself with scampering runs from the one and nine yard lines in the third quarter. Running back Logan Davis plowed through a sturdy Riverside defense from 10 yards out that was the final dagger for the Dragons in the 4th quarter.

Glover and Dodson connected six times for 142 yards.

Kicker Grayson Lytton was 5-for-5 for the point after touchdowns.

With the first contest behind them, the Dragons will now turn their focus to perennial state power - Beech High School. The Buccaneers are coming off a 13-2 season in which they played for the TSSAA 6A state championship in 2022, but fell to Oakland in last year's final.

Collierville and Beech are set to kickoff at 7pm, Friday August 25th, inside Dragon Stadium at Landers SportsPlex.

Tickets do remain but it is encouraged to purchase online in advance. It is anticipated to be a record crowd against two of the top teams in the state of Tennessee.

Speaking of fireworks, stay tuned.
