Collierville High School rising swimming freshman Ian Call has entered the national spotlight.

Call is an invitee to the 2023 National Junior Championships in Irvine, California this week. After swimming a 1:02.64 Monday morning to break the national age group (NAG) record at the prestigious event, Call swam even faster Monday night with a 1:02.22.

Call has made huge improvements over the last year. Last summer, his best time stood at a 1:07.9. Back in May 2023, he started off his season going a 1:05.73 before swimming a 1:03.78 in June.

He has now has dropped a total of 4.97 seconds in the event. Overall, Call has gone from a Top 100, to now being the fastest ever.

In addition to the 100 breast, Call also is entered in the 200 breast at the National Championships.

Collierville High School Swim is coached by Alyson Hannan. Expectations are high for the team during the 2023-24 campaign.
