For the majority of the game, Collierville soccer was able to slow down the offensive weapons of the Franklin Lady Rebels. It was the Lady Dragons that struck first with a goal in the first half from Amelia Jacobs, assist by Ava Goodin, and an early 2nd half goal from Goodin off the Sydney Davis assist.

Franklin got unassisted 2nd half goals from Yukino Wakatsuki and Avery Brown to tie the game and send the quarter-finals state tournament match to overtime.

Penalty kicks would determine the winner after strong defensive efforts by both teams in two overtime periods. Franklin won the shootout 5-4 and advanced to Saturday's semi-finals with the 3-2 victory.

The Lady Dragons finish the 2020 season, that was full of obstacles, at 8-4.
